What is a Wind Mitigation inspection?

Wind Mitigation inspections were created by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) to verify certain features of a home which aid in the resistance of hurricane related damages.  Your insurance company is required to provide you with discounts on your hurricane premium if your home is proven to contain one or more of these features.  Some of these features include:

• Stronger roof decking attachment & type
• Roof-to-wall attachment (hurricane clips / straps)
• Hip roof geometry
• Braced gable ends
• Masonry wall construction (not to be confused with brick wall cladding)
• Hurricane shutters

Thomas Enterprising, Inc. has completed tens of thousands of Wind Mitigation inspections in the state of Florida on behalf of the My Safe Florida Home program.  We have saved homeowners millions of dollars on their annual premiums!  Although the inspections are no longer free to the public through the Department of Financial Services, Thomas Enterprising, Inc. is continuing to offer the inspection services to homeowners for a reduced rate of $125.00 per inspection.
